Leading with Love

Fear of the unknown. Fear of overwhelm. Fear of not being enough. Fear of failure.

As entrepreneurs and leaders it’s natural to experience fear.  We must trust ourselves to do the work of love so we can show up in our bodies and hearts as mindfully as possible.  It begins with our connection to self, then into the connection we have in our communities.

How are you speaking to yourself?  I find this question helps support an internal check in, as sometimes the messages coming from ourselves are loaded with pressure.

Give yourself a break.  Let go of the negative self talk.  It’s not serving your heart.

Is the hurt in your life creating moments of disconnection?  I find that when I am at my worst self (which always happens when my hurt is triggered) I become anxious, controlling, scared, structured, closed.  As Seane Corn, yoga instructor and activist, states, “Life happens.  We can’t change what is.  But we can change our perception to our experiences.”  Our default is the desire to push these uncomfortable feelings out as fast as possible or to shut down and ignore these feelings.  It’s tough work looking at these spaces within ourselves but so necessary to have true healing take place.

You don’t have to do it alone if it doesn’t feel authentic to your process.  Reach out to a friend, research self care tools that feel good for you, book an appointment with a health/ wellness professional, sit in stillness and just breathe.  There are methods, resources, people to support you on this path of healing, growth and restoration.

I believe people are wired for love and connection.  Humanity thrives in this space.

Shadow Self

Whether it’s concrete, tangible or subtle, intangible information, we feel the energy of others deeply.  In experiences where others in community are feeling negative emotions- grief, fear, anger, shame, hurt- we carry that energy in our bodies, consciously or not.

Where does this energy come from?  Our society is immersed in narratives of power dynamics driving collective negativity and feelings of separation.  For generations these systems have been at play and for some we have not been consciously aware.  This negative energy has impacted humanity deeply and today we see cases of hurt and trauma in everyone’s stories.

Light Self

In experiences where others in community are feeling positive emotions- joy, love, happiness- we can lead in self and community with more clarity, peace and gratitude.

How do we find the love and light in our stories?  It’s our responsibility to be presently aware of how your energy is impacting the space in community.  Be accountable for what you can consciously see and the awareness that comes of from other people’s perspectives.  Be gentle with yourself on what’s in your unconscious and what you’re unable to currently see clearly.

I believe that everyone is doing the best with the resources they have in the moment.  I wish you well on your journey with what perspectives and tools you currently have.

The saying “everything happens for a reason” has such truth.  As in the joyful moments of our life we shine and in the difficult moments of our life we are invited into a space to learn.  To be the best version of us.  For ourselves and for community, in business and in life!

You deserve the love.  Community deserves the love.
